Slow Wine 2020

Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Fatalone 2017

Our Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Fatalone 2017 has been granted the prestigious recognition of Slow Wine 2020. Although we have been been present in this International Wine guide for some years now, we are always grateful and honored to receive this recognition. We strive to produce wines that embody the characteristics of “Slow Wine”–organic wines representative of their territory, with no use of chemicals in the vineyards and, to top it off, wines with a great quality-price ratio.

The Feiring Line: “Primitivo Don’t Age: Meet Fabulous Fatalone”

thumbnail of Primitivo_Dont_Age_Meet_ Fabulous_ Fatalone_ The_ Feiring_LineIn November 2018 in New York City, we carried out the 30th anniversary historic vertical tasting of our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva dating back to 1988. During the tasting, we surprised our guests with two bottles of Primitivo bottled by our grandparents, one from 1977 and the other from 1969 before the creation of our brand name, Fatalone.

This extraordinary event was made possible with the help of our importers in NYC and the talented Ms. Alice Feiring, an award-winning wine writer specializing in natural wines and creator of The Feiring Line. Alice recently wrote about our vertical tasting in her newsletter. The Feiring Line is an independent natural wine newsletter packed with only the best information on natural wines.

Falstaff, an internationally recognized Austrian Wine Guide, awarded our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 with a “Primitivo Trophy” as part of a special tasting of the excellent Primitivo wines in Puglia.  As in previous tastings, the wines were expertly evaluated by an international tasting panel. Our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 was awarded a rating of 93 points for, among other qualities, its “bold acidity and a harmonious long finish”. We are specially proud to see our Fatalone Riserva in the list, as it’s one of the few organic primitivo wines that received this high rating and honor.

Slow Wine 2019

Our Fatalone organic and sustainable wines confirm their presence in the internationally renowned guide, Slow Wine. In particular, our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 received the recognition of “Vino Slow”.

As stated on the Slow Wine website, “the SNAIL PRIZE is awarded to wineries whose values (high quality wines, originality, and respect for the land and environment) align with the Slow Food movement. Quality-price ratio is another factor that our editors consider.”

We are proud and honored to embody the Slow Wine characteristics.
