Our organic Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva Fatalone 2018 has been granted the prestigious recognitions of Top Wine and Vino Slow 2022 by Slow Wine. We have been present in this International Wine Guide for several years now. Nonetheless, we are grateful and honored to receive this acknowledgment. We work hard to produce wines that embody the characteristics of a “Slow Wine”, organic wines representative of their territory, with no use of chemicals in the vineyards and, as always, wines with a great quality-price ratio.
The wine guide ViniBuoni d’Italia 2021 awarded our Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva Fatalone 2017 its prestigious Crown: the maximum recognition awarded by the guide to Excellent Wines. Our Puglia IGT Primitivo Fatalone “Teres” 2019 and Fatalone “Spinomarino” 2019 also received top scores.
ViniBuoni 2021 is a wine guide by the Touring Club Italiano edited by Mario Busso and Alessandro Scorsone. It reviews wine obtained from autochthonous grape varieties from all over Italy. Following this criteria, the number of wines it reviews remains limited. We are honored to have been selected in this wine guide for a number of years now.
Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva Fatalone 2017
Our organic Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 was awarded with the Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2019. We are very proud of this recognition as the validity and rigor of their assessment is recognized worldwide.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, as its title suggests, is an international wine competition in which wines are assessed by an equally international tasting panel that includes oenologists, journalists, wine critics, researchers and buyers.
In November 2018 in New York City, we carried out the 30th anniversary historic vertical tasting of our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva dating back to 1988. During the tasting, we surprised our guests with two bottles of Primitivo bottled by our grandparents, one from 1977 and the other from 1969 before the creation of our brand name, Fatalone.
This extraordinary event was made possible with the help of our importers in NYC and the talented Ms. Alice Feiring, an award-winning wine writer specializing in natural wines and creator of The Feiring Line. Alice recently wrote about our vertical tasting in her newsletter. The Feiring Line is an independent natural wine newsletter packed with only the best information on natural wines.
Our Az. Agr. Petrera Pasquale will attend Vinitaly 2019. We will be located in Hall 11 Puglia, Area E3-E4, Stand N°27, exactly in the middle of the hall and the central aisle. We will present the new vintages of our own Fatalone Organic Wines and particularly our Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo 2017, Puglia IGT Primitivo “Teres” 2018 (traditional apulian style rosè made 100% with Racemi of Primitivo), Puglia IGT Greco “Spinomarino” 2018 (fresh and mineral white) and a preview from cask of our Fatalone Riserva 2017 to be officially released only on the end of 2019 to complete its ageing and fining process in Slavonic Oak with the application of music-therapy.
Falstaff awards Fatalone Primitivo with a “Primitivo Trophy” of 93 points
Falstaff, an internationally recognized Austrian Wine Guide, awarded our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 with a “Primitivo Trophy” as part of a special tasting of the excellent Primitivo wines in Puglia. As in previous tastings, the wines were expertly evaluated by an international tasting panel. Our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 was awarded a rating of 93 points for, among other qualities, its “bold acidity and a harmonious long finish”. We are specially proud to see our Fatalone Riserva in the list, as it’s one of the few organic primitivo wines that received this high rating and honor.
Our Fatalone organic and sustainable wines confirm their presence in the internationally renowned guide, Slow Wine. In particular, our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva 2015 received the recognition of “Vino Slow”.
As stated on the Slow Wine website, “the SNAIL PRIZE is awarded to wineries whose values (high quality wines, originality, and respect for the land and environment) align with the Slow Food movement. Quality-price ratio is another factor that our editors consider.”
We are proud and honored to embody the Slow Wine characteristics.
We celebrated the 30th Anniversary of our brand, Fatalone Organic Wines in New York City in November 2018 by holding a vertical tasting of our Fatalone Gioia del Colle Doc Primitivo Riserva dating back to 1988!
We had the pleasure of having Ms Catherine Todd of “Dame Wine”, one of the top wine bloggers in the US, in the tasting panel. Follow the link below where she shares her tasting notes and more about the vertical tasting from her unique perspective.
We continue to celebrate! On Nov. 2nd, we held a second (the first, in London) vertical tasting of our Fatalone Riserva in New York City to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of our brand, Fatalone Organic Wines. The event was held at Astor Center and was by invitation only. This event was also made possible with the help of Alice Feiring and our importers in New York. Ms. Feiring is an award-winning wine writer specializing in natural wines and editor of The Feiring Line, “The Natural Wine Newsletter”.
In a masterclass-style presentation, Pasquale Petrera, Fatalone’s own 5th generation winemaker, poured 15 vintages of our Fatalone Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva dating back to 1988. The tasting panel included local and international press, sommeliers and trade. Some of our invitees were: Alice Feiring of “The Feiring Line”, Jim Sligh of “Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels”, Oscar Wolf of “Chambers St Wines”, Mike Colameco of “Real Food, PBS”, Tara Thomas of “Wine & Spirits Magazine”, Levi Dalton of “I’ll Drink To That Podcast”, Catherine Todd of “Dame Wine” and Lorena Ascencios of “Astor Wines”.
